updates?
It’s been a while since any update has arrived for find a metro dc and I apologize for that. My daughter was born in March 2011 and things have had to slow down because of that. It has actually now been 2 years and 2 months since the app was originally released!
I have recently had quite few requests for a new update to add some new bells and whistles to the app. I have been working on a...

Pxtp review
Instead of leaving a review like that, all you needed to do was email me with the easy to use button inside the app. You accidentally turned your location off for the app. Please ask for help instead of ripping a hard working developer.

Metro lover review
Unfortunately the circulator itself has not released realtime arrival information, so I can’t add it to the app until the agency itself adds it. I will add it when it is finally available. The app also provides the closest circulator stops (except for rosslyn route right now). Closest bus info will be coming later this fall when wmata hopefully releases more information.

I've said this before and i'll say it again.
I am sick and tired of competing developers giving other apps 1 star ratings. I will not stoop to such lows.
1.9.1 update approved by apple
Apple has approved an update which includes fixes for Circulator arrival information and a couple other bug fixes. Everything should be working smoother again.
1.9.1 update...
Is coming to fix circulator arrivals and a couple other bugs. Seems like Circulator reworked their realtime information and they now provide estimated times until a bus arrives at each stop. The update is in apples hands for approval.
Circulator almost fixed
An app update is coming asap to fix circulator arrival information. It’s almost done and ready to pack up and upload to apple
Circulator API = broken
So apparently circulator completely changed their API. I was not informed of this change, didn’t know about it and all the circulator arrival info is now broken. Urgent fix coming!
WMATA Open Data
On Monday of this week, WMATA held a meeting for interested software developers about their new open data and of course I was there. As of today, WMATA has completely opened up their train arrival data and provided keys to those who are interested. Over the next few months I plan on revamping the app to take advantage of WMATA’s open data sets! Stay tuned…the app will only be...
app advice mentions find a metro dc →
App Advice named find a metro dc in a post about metro apps as “notable,” but I’m not so sure they really tried any of the apps listed for more than a minute or so and it seems like they didn’t actually use any of the apps for actually finding a bus or the metro. It seems like the reviews are heavily based on UI bling and the reviews do not indicate which apps provide...

A recent Forbes article discussed the many consequences of the current Metro fare hike which has been implemented in two phases. The first phase occurred in late June and all fares jumped by about 18%. The next phase of the fare hike is absolutely mind boggling.
The Forbes article writes: “I suppose somebody will write a smart phone app to help me figure out my Metro fare.” find a...
August 1 Fare Increases
The app will be updated soon to provide the August 1 fare increases which include peak of the peak fares and the surcharge for using a paper fare card.
Anyone having issues?
Seems as if some users are having some problems with the latest update. However, I’m perplexed. I’ve tested the app on as many devices as possible (3G, 3GS, 4, iPod touch, iPad) and under as many versions of the iPhone os as possible. If you are having issues please email me at findametrodc@gmail.com or contact me via twitter at @findametrodc. I want to help fix any of these problems,...
1 star ratings!
I am sick and tired of competing developers giving other apps 1 star ratings. I will not stoop to such lows.
If it ain't broke- don't fix it.
Unfortunately the last update was junky. Fortunately, apple just approved a new update to nuke that buggy version. Please download 1.8.1. It’s approved by apple and should be available.
Find a metro dc is now about 16 months old and by app store standards, that is ancient. New bells and whistles that apple keeps adding to the iPhone and the sdk are getting more difficult to add to the app...
The FAIL update
It is official. 1.8 wasn’t ready. It is bug riddled. In fact it sucks. The fares are right but thats about it. I am getting an update approved as fast as possible. The update removes quick app switching for the indefinite future because it is broken.
Yuck...
I think in my haste to get an update with the new fares out, there were quite a few bugs and crashes in 1.8. I just uploaded an update which should hopefully fix things.
1.8 soon available.
Thanks to apple for providing an expedited review. A new update has been approved which includes iOS4 compatibility, June 27, 2010 fare updates, first and last train info (no Internet connection required), and removes some pesky bugs.
MC Arlington review
What directions were not working properly? Maybe I can fix them? Maybe your phone didn’t obtain an accurate current location?
The trip planner is designed to work underground, that’s why some of those extra bells and whistles are removed.
The free app you used probably had times because they’re scheduled times, not actual realtime arrivals identical to the ones on signs in...
1.8 Uploaded to Apple
Unfortunately there are bugs in iOS4, but the fares in the app are outdated and an update is needed. I was waiting for apple to fix issues related to in app e-mail and in app maps, but there are outstanding issues that hopefully will be fixed by apple as soon as possible. For now, there will be some quirks in the app.
The update will be iOS4 compatible and include some other new features and...

1.8 coming soon
There are some odd bugs in the new version of the iPhone operating system iOS4 which have really slowed down development of the next update. It should be uploaded very soon.
Fare information
The fares are now incorrect in the app. They will be fixed and updated this week. Unfortunately, wmata waited until the very last minute to approve these fares and the website wasn’t updated until today, so fixing the fares in the app has been a mathematical chore until today. Should be easy to fix now.
Metro board approves fare hike →
The board gave me less than three days to get an approved fare hike updated and into the app. Wmatas website is nowhere near ready. Since it currently takes a week to get an update approved, the app will not be ready in time for sunday the 27th when the fares increase. Workin on it!
1.8 Update Update
I have been at work crafting this update, but lots of things have gotten in the way. There are some new features coming, a few bug fixes, iOS4 compatibility and June 27 fare update information. Metro hasn’t made it easy because the fare increases aren’t even approved yet and will likely be made official tomorrow.
MFago Review
This is an old review based on an old version of the app. I don’t think you tested the newest version of the app. There is plenty of map information in the app and fare information which was added after you wrote this review long ago. Since then I worked hard to add features.
This is extremely frustrating for a developer to get these types of reviews because we cannot easily comment on...

Yet another fare hike →
Looks like there is tons of work to do again on the app. Ugh
Update...
There is an update coming, but I decided to make it a bigger update than previously planned. Still working on it. I also have found a ton of errors on WMATA’s website. I will be reporting these to wmata…yikes. More details to come.

Not interactive review
I’m sorry but I don’t understand what you are saying? Not sure what you mean by an interactive gps locator??
Greater Greater Washington review →
Yesterday, greater greater Washington provided a very thorough and positive review of “find a metro dc.” I plan on taking some of the suggestions into consideration in upcoming updates. Check it out! GGW is a tremendous, well-written blog about the dc area and ways to make it better than it already is.

I was quoted in the Washington Post in an article about the iPad and find a metro dc. At this point I’m just not sure an iPad version of the app would be heavily used…

Uploaded one more update. This one adds all sorts of map upgrades to the app. It also moves around some features to make them easier to access. Some more points of interest are added and some fixes are applied. Hope there haven’t been too many updates lately!
Still cranking out updates!
Working on adding a few other features which should be coming out this week! Stay tuned.
Anglishman review comment
Thanks for the review. I disagree with your idea to only provide delay info for a station you are interested in that you may have tapped. Just because metro says it is affecting a particular line or set or stations there is a good chance that it is affecting more than metro claims. So unfortunately i think that isn’t a good idea.
Another update...
A user pointed out a wonky trip planner error on the green line today. This is now fixed and you can now save names for bus stops. Georgetown was also added to the points of interest. It should be available for download in the next few days after apple review.
Just turned one.
the app was launched and approved by apple one year ago today!
1.6.1
Apple just approved a quick little update that fixes a few bugs and improves the app.
Oops...
Guess 1.6 was uploaded a little too early. Found some issues in 1.6 and uploaded another update. The link to the blog inside the app was broken. This was fixed along with a weird crash I found. The Circulator fare was also added. Additionally, a better way to show that the app is trying to get location was added.
1.6 approved!
Apple approved a new update which should be available for download soon.
The app now includes
-favorites
-Circulator realtime bus information, closest stops and a map
-updated Metro fare information.
Hurry up apple
I expected apple to approve the update by now and they are taking longer than I expected them to take to appove this update. Ugh.

1.6 uploaded to Apple
A new update was just uploaded to apple and is currently being reviewed. It (finally) includes the ability to save your favorite metro stations, finds the closest Circulator bus stops and provides realtime Circulator information and includes fare updates for the February 28, 2010 10 cent fare increase.
Good review by savingthefamilymoney.com!! →
Thanks!
1.6 update
A new update is almost ready to be uploaded to apple so that it will go live around the time of metro’s 10 cent fare increase this sunday. More details to come.
10 cent increase
I just changed some code for the March 1-June 30 10 cent WMATA fare increase. I am planning on submitting an update very soon so it will be live for March 1.
Working on a new app!
I’ve begun work on a new app for the metro and am still working on a new update right now to add some requested and fancy new features.
Don't take the train.
See subject. It’s really bad.
